Where Emotion Meets Inspiration: Sony Kando Trip ANZ 2024

“Welcome to Kando”, when an event becomes an experience, it will never be forgotten.
Where Emotion Meets Inspiration: Sony Kando Trip ANZ 2024

Sony Australia led by example two years ago, creating a new kind of experience two years ago with the second global Kando event. Sony Australia played host to local partners and professional photographers for three days, providing a new and unique once-in-a-lifetime shoot every day of Kando.

According to Sony, “Kando” is a Japanese word that roughly translates to "the sense of awe and the emotion you feel when experiencing something beautiful and amazing for the first time."

espresso Displays joined Sony for the 2024 Sony Kando Trip ANZ, bringing portable workstations to each of its guests, allowing for the ultimate editing experience while travelling away from their usual studios and offices.

This year’s trip occurred on the Gold Cost of Queensland, Australia. Spread across three days, attendees got to access and test the latest cameras and gear from Sony across jaw-dropping once-in-a-lifetime shoots, including underwater photography, real-world stunt actors, and even alien models set in an arid landscape.

See our tour of Sony Kando Trip ANZ 2024, followed by our favourite stills from each day below, all captured on Sony’s latest line of award-winning cameras.

Day 1 – Hollywood Hotel
Set amongst an enveloping web of gorgeous mid-century flats, Sony built a nostalgia-fuelled experience full of rock’n’roll music, golden age models and scenes evocative of the romantic heights of Hollywood history.

Day 2 – Kando Mania
An explosive afternoon of body slams, flying kicks and dramatic twists, Sony partnered with Queensland’s United Pro Wrestling to test Sony’s low light abilities. Creators and espresso alike got to take photos of the talent mid-air in previously unimaginable lighting for a consumer camera to approach. Check them out below.

Day 3 – The Quarry
Monster trucks, flying stunt performers, and alien vistas inhabited by striking models were all found in Sony’s finale at Kando Trip ANZ 2024. Each experience gave creators 2 hours to shoot some truly original and usually inaccessible scenes as if standing in the middle of a movie set.

We spoke with dozens of talented and inspiring professionals across the week at Kando, here's what Michelle Kennedy, digital artist and photographer had to say;

"Technology is a tool that unlocks our creative potential, espresso and Sony share this journey and relationship with the products we build, and Kando was the ultimate example of how innovation and creativity can combine to create something truly remarkable." - Michelle Kennedy

We hope Kando can continue to inspire and deliver on its mission to help others feel that sense of awe and emotion in modern creative works.
