Building the Ultimate USB-C Cable

Forget the rest, our cable's the best.
Building the Ultimate USB-C Cable

With the Big 3 (Apple, Samsung, and Google) now fully integrated with the USB-C standard, it's about time someone made a cable worthy of our cross-platform charging, video, and data transfer needs. So we did!

USB-C is unlike previous standardised USB platforms, in that it's not very standard... Most USB-A cables are identical in functionality to other USB-A cables, with speed being the only variable. USB-C, on the other hand, could be vastly different in features from one cable to the next.

USB-C cables have a series of channels inside, with combinations of these channels being responsible for transferring video, audio, data and power respectively. Different USB C cables support different protocols or ways of transferring data, such as MHL, HDMI, Thunderbolt 3 and DisplayPort.

espresso Displays require at minimum a cable that meets the USB 3.1 Gen 1 design specifications. If you need to purchase a compatible cable in a hurry, check out our support page for more info!

As including different methods of transferring data adds cost to cable production, many manufacturers only cater for the most common use cases; power and data.

While most of our customers have a USB-C cable in their home, 9 times out of 10 they won't be compatible with our displays as they’re missing the DisplayPort Alternative mode.

So, we came up with a clever solution that we can't believe no one else thought of, it involved whiteboards and meetings and the whole 9 office yards!

"Let's just make a USB-C cable that does everything!" - our team at some point (I swear).

It will do anything you need it to, shouldn’t have any compatibility issues, and you won't need to search for hours to find it, just look for the big espresso logo on the ends.
